The latest virtual platform for the property and construction industry that’s interactive and intuitive
Robert Bird Group has launched the RBG REVEAL platform, a simple-to-use, interactive and intuitive 4D virtual environment that is set to revolutionise Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) services in the property and construction industry. RBG REVEAL creates a virtual environment within which design and construction planning and solutions can be viewed, developed and coordinated in real-time.
RBG REVEAL is of great value to clients, contractors and project teams on building projects, as it gives project stakeholders direct access to navigate, explore, interrogate, and interact with design and construction solutions, from any angle, at any stage of construction. It can be used by both co-located teams, or teams working remotely, making it accessible to anyone, anywhere.
Jarrad Warhurst, Construction Engineering Director (UK/Europe) of Robert Bird Group, says: “The RBG REVEAL platform is a major step-change in the way we interact with, develop and communicate design and construction solutions for projects. It is more accessible in terms of construction visualisation than anything on the market at present, putting the power to understand challenges and communicate solutions into everyone’s hands. It is a highly interactive and intuitive 4D communication tool and – since it draws on project BIM information - the data provided is extremely accurate,” he adds.
Warhurst says that the initial response from clients to the release of RBG REVEAL, has been overwhelmingly positive. “We are using RBG REVEAL on a number of projects to get under the skin of complex project delivery challenges.”
VDC can be applied to provide insights into both permanent and temporary works designs and can also be used to develop virtual construction rehearsals incorporating various construction methodologies and erection sequences. The extent to which pre-construction planning and problem-solving can now include programming and scheduling options, and site and construction access and logistics - makes the combination of RBG’s Construction Engineering and VDC services a highly effective approach to managing project delivery risk.
Prior to the release of RBG REVEAL, other VDC platforms tended to be either of high visual quality, or highly data-rich, but never both. Warhurst says that the RBG REVEAL platform links these two demands. “It has an interactive interface and is intuitive to use, but is also very mature in the data it captures. You can use it to interrogate most of the information used to build up project BIM models, making it a powerful tool for co-ordinating design and construction outcomes with project teams.”
