ROBERT BIRD GROUP LAUNCHES GEO-ENVIRONMENT CONSULTANCY WITH APPOINTMENT OF SIMON CORNESS

Structural engineer Robert Bird Group will now offer geo-environmental consultancy as a key add-on to its geotechnical engineering service with the appointment of associate director Simon Corness.

Corness has over twenty years’ experience of environmental improvement work in the fields of geo-environmental investigations and remediation, hydrogeology, and environmental audit with firms including Ramboll, WSP and Waterman.

He says: “My brief is to build on Robert Bird’s strong reputation for geotechnical engineering by providing specialist advice to clients on brownfield land where development is being considered. Our services will also support our clients throughout the project lifecycle from property transactions and investment, through to a full range of construction services, including: preliminary environmental site assessment, site investigation, risk assessment, remediation and verification.”

Working closely with our geotechnical teams we are well positioned to provide cost effective ground based risk solutions associated with contaminated land management and brownfield redevelopment with particular efficiencies being realised during site investigation and development.

Tim Hartlib, the head of the geotechnical discipline at Robert Bird, said: “the appointment of Simon Corness gives us the opportunity to apply our expertise much earlier in the development process. It also complements our existing range of services, enabling us to provide a holistic Ground Engineering product to our clients ,” Hartlib adds.
